Pembrokeshire seabirds take a battering in the storms
March 2014
The recent storms have taken their toll on Pembrokeshire’s seabirds, with large numbers of dead and injured birds being found on beaches around the county.
The RSPCA has been called out to deal with over 150 seabirds in the past week, many of them dead on arrival. The charity believes that the number of casualties is likely to be much higher, as many birds will have been blown out to sea and lost.
The storms have also caused problems for the RSPCA’s rescue team, with waves and strong winds making it difficult to reach birds in distress.
The charity is urging people to be on the lookout for injured or dead seabirds, and to report any sightings to the RSPCA.
