Cardiff is hosting this year’s ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup. The event is being held at Cardiff International White Water between the 8th – 10th June 2012. The world’s best paddlers are expected to attend.

There are 45 of the world’s best slalon paddlers coming in from 38 countries. This will be one of the last outings for the GB Team prior to the Olympics.
Canoe Wales are running a taster session for 1000 children to introduce them into the sport as part of a programme to look for the future canoe starts.
First Minister Carwyn Jones said “Since the Cardiff International White Water centre opened, the Welsh Government has been in regular discussions with Canoe Wales and the British Canoe Union to identify major event opportunities. The World Cup is one of the last major events to be held in the UK for an Olympic sport prior to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
