A Springtime Stroll Through Mid-West Wales’ Bird Reserves

Bird Reserves in the Spring – Mid West Wales

As the days start to get longer and the weather gets warmer, spring is the perfect time to get out and explore some of Wales’ many bird reserves. Here are just a few of the best in Mid West Wales:

Llyn Brenig

Llyn Brenig is a man-made reservoir in Denbighshire, North Wales. It’s a haven for wildlife, with ospreys, red kites, buzzards and peregrine falcons all regular visitors. Spring is the perfect time to visit, as you might spot nesting birds, or even young chicks.

Cors Caron

Cors Caron is a large raised bog near Tregaron in Ceredigion. It’s home to a huge variety of wildlife, including otters, water voles, dragonflies and, of course, birds. In spring, you might see lapwings, curlews, redshanks, snipe and teal, to name just a few.

Gigrin Farm

Gigrin Farm is a red kite feeding station near Rhayader in Powys. Every day, farmers here feed the kites, which attracts up to 500 birds at a time! It’s an incredible sight, and one not to be missed.

So there you have it, three of the best bird reserves in Mid West Wales. Why not get out and explore them this spring?
