A Tour of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path: Exploring One of Wales’ Most Beautiful Walks

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path in Wales is one of the world’s most beautiful walks. Spanning 186 miles along the southwestern edge of Wales, it’s a stunningly beautiful and wild, sometimes rugged, coastal landscape waiting to be explored. Every year, thousands of people from all over the world come to hike this amazing path.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is one of the National Trails of England and Wales, and it’s part of the 870-mile long Wales Coast Path. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is divided into 12 sections, plus a short coastal walk around St David’s Head. It takes about two weeks to complete the whole path, but you can pick and choose which sections to hike. The whole walk will bring you to some of the most awe-inspiring spots in Wales, from rushing rivers and pristine beaches to rolling hills and dramatic cliff tops.

The first section of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path starts in Poppit Sands, near Cardigan Bay. Here, you can enjoy a peaceful beach walk to St. Dogmael’s, before heading inland along the Teifi Valley. The landscape gradually changes as you make your way through the hills of Pembrokeshire, and you’ll pass by rolling green fields and rural villages. Keep an eye out for wild ponies that may be grazing alongside the path.

Once you reach the small port of Porthgain, you’ll continue along the coast, through some of the most dramatic sections of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Here, you’ll see steep cliffs that drop into turquoise waters and spectacular rock formations, including the River Dwyryd estuary. After passing by Strumble Head, you’ll reach the village of Fishguard, with its award-winning beaches and charming harbour.

The next day, you can continue along the coast to St. David’s Head, passing by Porthclais and St. Non’s Bay. This section of the path offers breathtaking views of Ramsey Island, with its many seabirds and seals. You’ll end the day at St. David’s city, the smallest city in the UK, where you can explore its ancient cathedral and relax at one of the local pubs or restaurants.

The fourth section of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path takes you around St. David’s Head, and then on through the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Here, you’ll enjoy incredible cliff-top views of the wild Atlantic ocean, with its bright white sands and azure blue waters. The path takes you through the Preseli Hills, before bringing you to the village of Solva. From here, you can climb the steep and rocky path to the famous St.
