Family holidays are always a much-anticipated event in our household. Every year, my husband and I take our three children away for a week of fun and adventure. Every year we try to choose something different, and this year, we decided to plan the perfect family beach holiday in the UK or Europe.
Our children are aged 7, 10 and 13, so planning a beach holiday that caters to their different ages, needs and interests can be tricky. But, with a bit of careful planning and preparation, it’s possible to create a holiday that everyone will enjoy. Here are some of my top tips for planning the perfect family beach holiday:
1. Choose the Right Location
The most important part of any holiday is choosing the right location. We wanted to pick a beach that had a good mix of activities, amenities, and attractions to keep our kids entertained. We considered beaches in the UK and Europe and eventually settled on a beach in Spain.
We looked at the size of the beach, the quality of the sand, and the local amenities like restaurants, shops, and attractions. We also made sure to check the weather forecast and read reviews online to get an idea of what other people thought of the beach.
2. Plan Your Accommodation

We also made sure to check out the local area and find out if there were any activities or attractions that we could visit during our stay. We wanted to make sure that our beach holiday had a good balance of relaxation and activities.
3. Pack the Essentials
Once we had booked our villa, we started to think about what we would need to pack for our beach holiday. We made a list of all the essentials we would need, from beach towels and sunscreen to buckets and spades. We also made sure to take swimwear, sun hats, and sunglasses for everyone.
4. Bring Entertainment
We wanted to make sure that our kids had plenty of entertainment options on our beach holiday. We packed books, board games, and outdoor toys like beach balls, kites, and frisbees. We also made sure to bring our own music and a few movies in case of bad weather.
5. Plan Activities
We also made sure to plan a few activities during our beach holiday. We looked at local attractions like zoos, aquariums, and theme parks, and we also planned a few beach activities like swimming, snorkeling, and sandcastle building.
6. Enjoy Quality Time Together
One of the most important things about a family holiday is being able to spend quality time together. We made sure to set
