Happy St. David’s Day!
March 1st is St. David’s Day, the national day of Wales. It is also the feast day of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales.
St. David was born in Wales in the 6th century. He was a monk and an abbot, and founded several monasteries. He is the patron saint of Wales because he preached Christianity throughout the country.
The Welsh flag is a red dragon on a white background. The flag is called the Y Ddraig Goch, or “the red dragon”.
St. David’s Day is celebrated with parades, concerts, and festivals. In Wales, it is traditional to wear a daffodil or a leek on St. David’s Day.
